“He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:12) This morning, shortly after my daughter woke up, she decided to water her cactus plant that her grandmother bought for her over the summer. Every few months, she remembers the poor thing and decides to water it. This morning, when I saw what she was doing, I chuckled and said, “I know you are not watering that thing? You do know it’s dead?” And she looked at me and said “No, it’s not dead!” Then she watered it. Instantly I heard in my spirit “ WATERING DEAD PLANTS ” and I thought of the church. When I was in middle school, I played in the school band. I was the only girl in the trumpet section, and I was also the first chair (or lead) trumpet player. That means I was the most proficient trumpet player and often I was tasked with playing the most difficult parts of the musical pieces. First chair was not something you took lightly though, because in band there is a procedure used by the band director to ensure the most proficient players were positioned as first chair.
