Building Blocks

“If it is unacceptable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”     Joshua 24:15

If you would, stop for a moment and take stock of your location. Not physically but spiritually.

Are you standing on the Rock of Salvation (grounded and rooted in Jesus Christ) or are you standing on the shifting sands of the world (following after your own thoughts, desires, and needs)?

Please don’t disregard this. Your stance is important.

There’s an old saying “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” And that is true, but it misses a significant truth that cannot be ignored. Is your foundation strong? Is what you are standing on sure and steady? Or are there cracks in the foundation? Is your foundation as unreliable as the shifting sands?

I know you’re probably thinking that this seems sooo off topic of the scripture above but just stay with me for a moment.

Do you know in whom it is that you believe and in whom you have faith? If it is not the one true God, Creator, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazerath, then it is a good time to reevaluate your foundation. Anything and anyone other than the LORD will lead you to fall.

Think about it this way. When you go to build a house, do you just ‘set up shop’ anywhere?

No. Your home is important to you….you’re going to live in it!

So you take great care in the location, builders, and building materials. You want it to be sturdy and long-lasting.

The scriptures say the same thing about our spiritual state!

Jesus said, “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”  (Matthew 7:24-27)

So if you wondered about the importance of your spiritual state before, I hope this scripture gives you revelation.

It is VERY IMPORTANT!

And if you still have some doubts, consider this: When a foundation crumbles, everything built on that foundation is destroyed along with it.

So, what have you built on your beliefs/convictions?

Your family, your job, your dreams, your life……..

Please consider this with an open heart. I am not here to judge or condemn, because without Christ I was undone as well. I stood on an unstable foundation built on personal ambition, worldly ideas of success, and on people’s opinions of who they thought I was and who they thought I should be.

There is much more to our lives than that. And there is much more available to us than what the world can give.

So make the decision today, if you already haven’t. “Choose this day whom you will serve.”

And if you have decided to follow the LORD, take hold of this foundation stone:
“As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Build your life on the ROCK (Jesus)! Stand firm in Him. He is strong and mighty to save!

God bless you.

Much love,

Kelly
